My Little Recycled Container Garden

Bob made it through his first day of radiation and he's ok...mouthy as ever! But this blog is not about Bob, What About Bob, or any of that!! Scroll down to see what I saw this morning! So exciting!! This is my mixed lettuce that I planted 5 days ago and it's already sprouting!! It's all different kinds of leaf lettuce, which is my favorite!

Here are my tomato babies. The small one's a yellow and the bigger one is red beefsteak. I recycled my cat litter buckets into planters and I'm using sticks for cages. Not very pretty, but effective and that's what I'm going for!

We bought a package of mixed radishes...red, white, icicle, red & white together...if it's a radish, I love it!! They are one of my favorite vegetables, Bob's too...I think I even got the dogs to eat one once! But my radishes decided to poke their heads out this morning...

And this is the second planter of radishes...one lonely little guy on the edge is waiting for his buddies to join him...I wish they would hurry up and get the party started!!

This is my little herb kit I bought at Home Depot. It has flat-leaf parsley, chives and basil. The basil decided to join the party...

Here is my yellow tomato baby...

And this healthy looking red tomato baby...

The big one is mint that I bought for the Israel blog and it has really taken off! The guy who owned the produce stand told me if I bought the mint, he would give me the dill because he was certain it would die anyway. Well, it isn't dead and it is starting to perk up after a major haircut by me and a root overhaul by yarding the dead stuff out...

I've got the lettuce partying in a huge tub I got for 25 cents at a yard sale...can't beat that price!

And here is the start of my recycled container garden...like I said, not really pretty to look at, but entirely functional! Not to mention the cost of produce is ridiculous and this will come in handy!
Happy Spring, everyone!
